the academy

The Academy is our online learning platform here at the Personal Training Collective.  The Academy includes a growing number of online workshops delivered by our exceptional faculty, and the occasional guest expert!   Each and every workshop has been custom designed to help you become an unstoppable Personal Trainer.

Our unique approach is really quite simple, we create our content based on what YOU, the Trainer, actually wants and cares about not what WE think you need.   The amount of information and educational opportunities in our industry is downright overwhelming.  It seems the more you learn the more your realize you don't know.  What a confidence killer!   Our member driven approach is designed to address the challenges you're faced with each day and give you the evidence and tools to build your practice AND your confidence.

How it Works

The Academy is completely automated. Once you complete a workshop, simply do the quiz, get at least 80% and then download your certification of completion instantly. No waiting for quizzes to be marked or certificates to be mailed. You know, for those times when you forget your renewal is due in 2 days and you still need more CECs!  How's that for addressing your challenges?

Our Faculty

Brenda Adams

Founder, Life Coach, Kinesiologist
Well, first, there’s what most people tend to look at: formal education. Brenda earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Simon Fraser University, which means she spent four (okay, maybe six) years studying the human body and how it functions. She’s also a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (a life coach). And finally, she has her master’s degree in adult education. So her knowledge about the human body, combined with the tools she’s acquired as a life coach, and her understanding of how adults learn best, are the reasons why she’s the one to do this work. From the experience side of things, Brenda has been a fitness professional for over 18 years. In that time she has had the opportunity to work for provincial fitness organizations, to chair the National Fitness Leadership Alliance and to run one of the largest fitness centres in Canada. One of her greatest passions is teaching. Whether it be a fitness theory course or a Personal Training Course. She thrives on taking knowledge and making it easy for people to learn and understand.
