The Personal Training Collective is designed to fix what’s broken and provide a place where great trainers can discover a new way to harness their passion, feed their love of learning, and fulfill their need to be connected and supported by their peers.  All of our services are powered by our Continuous Growth System (CGS), a holistic system of mentorship, connection and learning designed to create unstoppable Personal Trainers.

Mentorship
At the heart of all our services is our unique approach to mentorship. Our team of experts aren't just experts in the latest training principles, we are coaches who help you discover your own training philosophy and build a career that is uniquely you. We focus on the whole trainer, because what's the point in career success if it's sucking the life out of you?
Connection
Everyone needs connection, just as we need healthy food and regular exercise. Powerful and sustainable motivation comes from community. At The PT Collective our services are designed to enable trainers to grow together, to encourage each other to reach our goals and find success in business and in life. Our 1 year mentorship program provides the highest level of personal connection to other trainers and our experts.

Our learning philsophy is simple; to bring you cutting edge, evidence-based education and pair that with the clinical wisdom of experienced practitioners. We reach out into many fields of study to bring you an absolutely unique and practical learning experience you won’t find anywhere else.

Our Team of Experts

Brenda Adams

Brenda Adams

Well, first, there’s what most people tend to look at: formal education. Brenda earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Simon Fraser University, which means she spent four (okay, maybe six) years studying the human body and how it functions.

She’s also a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (a life coach). And finally, she has her master’s degree in adult education.

So her knowledge about the human body, combined with the tools she’s acquired as a life coach, and her understanding of how adults learn best, are the reasons why she’s the one to do this work.

From the experience side of things, Brenda has been a fitness professional for over 18 years. In that time she has had the opportunity to work for provincial fitness organizations, to chair the National Fitness Leadership Alliance and to run one of the largest fitness centres in Canada.

One of her greatest passions is teaching. Whether it be a fitness theory course or a Personal Training Course. She thrives on taking knowledge and making it easy for people to learn and understand.

Laura Loudon

Laura Loudon

Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University. She blazed her personal training and exercise rehabilitation path in the world of municipal recreation, later specializing in exercise for chronic conditions. Laura is a Certified Exercise Physiologist with both the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology and the American College of Sports Medicine.

After over 10 years working with clients, Laura seized the opportunity to move into health-related project management and community development. She has helped build many projects from the ground up including the BC Physical Activity Line and a community-based childhood obesity prevention project Live5210. Laura currently works in public health promotion mobilizing community partners to build healthy cities, neighbourhoods and people.

Laura firmly believes that Personal Trainers are a vital partner in our quest to create healthier communities, but are often isolated from broader community health initiatives and other health professionals. As the Health Promotion Strategist with the collective Laura hopes to bridge this gap by bringing Trainers the latest news, science, knowledge and skills to improve the health of their clients and the communities they live in.

Brian Justin

Brian Justin

Brian is currently a Kinesiology Instructor at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford and Chilliwack BC. He earned his Masters and Bachelor degrees from the University of British Columbia. Brian’s areas of concentration are exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, injury management, and exercise testing and prescription.

He is a Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) through CSEP. Additionally Brian is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, CSEP- Certified Personal Trainer, CHEK Level 1 Practitioner (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiologist) , CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach Level 2, Functional Movement Screen Level 1 specialist, Somatic Exercise Coach, and NASM Performance Enhancement and Corrective Exercise Specialist.

Brian’s clientele has ranged from post-rehabilitation to recreational and varsity athletes and everything in between. Besides teaching students and training clients, he currently authors manuals and articles. He has contributed to 4 chapters in Human Kinetics Publisher’s book Foundations of Professional Personal Training and 3 chapters in CSEP’s Health-related Exercise Prescription for the Qualified Exercise Professional 1st Edition (in press).

Currently, he is finishing up his first book entitled Therapeutic Physical Assessment and Training. Brian is passionate about spreading the word on the benefits of physical activity for health, performance, and injury prevention.

Michal Ofer

Michal Ofer

Feeling awesome all the time is possible! As a functional nutritionist it is Michal Ofer’s purpose to educate and guide individuals to take control of their health, embrace their bodies and realize their individual ultimate life experience through understanding the power of true wellness.

With a degree in life sciences, she has studied functional nutrition and digestive health through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, the Institute of Functional Medicine, Stanford University and University of Colorado (Boulder) along with the mentorship of many leaders in the alternative nutrition community all over the world. Michal is currently pursuing a Masters in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine to further understand the integral role food and digestion play in all aspects of physiological function.

Food choices create the foundation to fuel, drive, motivate and heal. Optimal fueling of the body, along with a strong, healthy resilient digestive systems are the keys to achieving unimaginable levels of health and happiness.

Michal consults with clients and runs group and corporate nutrition and digestive health programs. She is a partner and content creator for www.achievetruehealth.com, offering online solutions to digestive concerns. She is also a cookbook author, amateur chef, avid yoga practitioner and volunteer for women’s advocacy.
